Ankle

The ankle is a large joint composed of three bones surrounded by muscles, tendons and ligaments, which connects the foot to the leg, and enables its up-and-down movements. Just like the foot, the ankle is constantly under stress as well, and most people experience a foot and/or ankle injury at some point in their lives.

Because of the fact that the ankle needs to withstand 1.5 times your body weight when you walk, and up to 8 times your body weight when you run, it has to be very stable. But, the amount of pressure it’s under makes it susceptible to many injuries.

Common causes of ankle injuries include sports like running, football, basketball, tennis, and more, but also simple day-to-day activates such as sleeping on an uneven surface, wearing improper footwear, or performing repetitive motions associated with everyday life.
